WELCOME TO BIKE ASTURIAS

BLOG             CLIMBS             ROUTES             THE BIKE BARN             VIDEOS

If you are looking for information about cycling in Asturias then you have arrived at the right place.

I started cycling at the back-end of 2012 and since then have been pretty much addicted. One thing I did notice though was that there was very little on the web, in English, about cycling here in Asturias. The more I rode, the more I realised what people were missing, so decided to create this site to help people learn more about cycling in Asturias and hopefully encourage them to come over and see for themselves.

Asturias really is a cyclists paradise. With a beautiful coast line, stunning mountains and very little traffic, it offers everything you could possibly want for a cycling trip. As home of some of the most iconic climbs of the Vuelta a España, Asturias is a climbers dream. You can ride the same routes and roads as Wiggins, Froome, Contador etc. and if you’re brave enough, climb the famous summits of Los Lagos de Covadonga and the toughest climb on the World Tour the L’Angliru.

I work on the site as much as I can and hope it is enough to give visitors a taste of what Asturias can offer the cyclist. I will continue to add Routes and climb info when I can, but if there is anything you would like to know that isn’t on the site, please feel free to contact me on bikeasturias@hotmail.com .

Happy cycling!

  2. Hey. Cillian and Sammy here. Just checked out the site and am blown away by the effort and detail your putting in nice work! Hopefully I will have more opportunities to use this as a refrerence! Hope your ride down the east was a good one. We’ll be in touch. Ciao for now.

  3. This is the most complete issue about the possibilities Asturias offers on the field of bike riding; I really give thanks to the creators for the effort on designing it so that internet users can become aware of the possibilities Asturias gives to practising bike riding. Your work has no pay-back.

    • Many Thanks Manuel for your kind comments. Words like these make all the time I spend on the site worth while.

  4. Martin is a great host and is not joking when he says Asturias is a biking paradise. Several inspiring/humbling climbs(L’Angliru, Ermita de Alba, Lagos de Covadonga to name just three) within easy distance from The Barn. The ride to the coast and back will only leave you wanting more. The Puertos Esmeralda sportive is a great way to cap off a trip to Asturias. Nearby Pola de Siero is a beautiful little town, easy acces with great food at very reasonable prices. I recommend La Teya bar/restaurant. Overall a great experience. See you soon Martin. Hope the Aubisque weather is good for you.
